photo of the day (san francisco day 4)
After breakfast at the Homemade, we headed over the Bay Bridge and into the city of San Francisco.
This is a cable car we passed on our way to our hotel. It took me awhile to be able to remember the difference between a trolley and a cable car but this is definitely a cable car.
Our hotel is walking distance from Fisherman’s Wharf and that is where we spent the better part of the day. It’s a very touristy area with lots of chatchka shops that sell souvenirs and over priced “museums.” But it is right on the water and it’s pretty enough. Our hotel room overlooks a courtyard with a pool and has a view of the Bay and Alcatraz Island. I was expecting a very hot day as in some places inland it is in the 90s but here on the water is cool and breezy and comfortable.
Clare is happy because she and Nick got to take a dip in the pool. I didn’t even stick my big toe in the water as the air was so chilly just sitting and watching them swim. As usual, Nick got cold and left the pool first. Clare hung on to the last minute when I finally convinced her that I was freezing just sitting and watching her swim so we headed to the room to clean up for dinner.
After dinner we walked across the street to the beach and watched people crewing and swimming in the bay before heading back to the room to call it a night.
