photo of the day

Today was the big day. I looked at the clock at a little before 5:30 am and when I crawled out of bed to make coffee, Clare was already up and getting dressed. I’m not surprised at all. She was so excited about going on her farm trip.

We got to school to meet the rest of the class before 7 am.

This is Clare and her friend, Dyani.

This is Clare and her friend Dyani hamming it up for the camera.

Here’s the group just before they got into the cars and headed on their way to Plowshare farm in New Hampshire. They will be at the farm until Friday. It’s kind of a right of passage in Waldorf schools to go on the third grade farm trip. Nick went on his farm trip and ran face first into an electric fence. I’m sure that Clare will have a better time than that.

With Clare on her way to the farm, I headed home to wake up Nick. After another cup of coffee for me and a hot chocolate for Nick, we packed Luath up and headed for Topstone Park for a walk. What a beautiful day for a walk in the woods. Have I mentioned that Topstone Park used to be the property of the photographer, Edward Steichen?

There are goslings and geese everywhere. This family is living by the swimming area at the lake.

I’ve never seen red water lilies before.

Nick and I saw this hawk flying away after having caught a large fish out of the lake.

Today was a true blue day with the most amazing sky. Like e.e. cummings wrote:

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
